They get stuck, and after a while you stop expecting anyone to hear them anyway. Maybe there's something you've carried a long time, and never said out loud. That can leave you feeling trapped and alone.

A girl in a teen group, years ago
Years ago, in a room full of teenagers, we were asked what we would change about ourselves if we could change one thing. A girl in my group said those words.
That broke my heart for her. It still does.
I became a counselor because I cannot stand by while someone is in pain and has begun to believe no one is coming. The girl who couldn't say no is the reason Lighthouse exists. She is at the root of everything we do here.

We believe people do not heal alone. They heal in connection, with someone who truly sees them, and with God, who has never stopped reaching for them. So we walk the road with you.
Until you can say the no, the yes, and the truth in your own voice, and on your own behalf. It is not quick, and we will not pretend it is. We will sit with you in the hard part for as long as it takes.
Lighthouse is a faith-grounded practice. I am a Christian, and my relationship with God is part of how I understand healing. We say so openly, so no one is ever surprised by it later.
If you do not share that faith, you are still welcome here, fully. We meet you where you are. We never press.
The light in a lighthouse does not chase anyone. It simply keeps shining, so whoever is out there in the dark can find the way home.
Lighthouse Counseling Center first opened in 1993. Today it is growing into something larger. A practice where each counselor and coach is at home with the people they serve, gathered around one clear mission.
